More legislative endorsements for Greear March 26, 2008
It seems most, if not ALL, elected officials in the Republican party have endorsed Dan Greear for Attorney General.
In the Greear campaign press release below, four more House members have publicly endorsed Dan this week. That brings the total of endorsements to 22 current and former legislators as well as many other leaders throughout the state.
While endorsements don’t necessarily translate into victories, one thing is apparent, the vast majority of Republican leaders feel that Dan is by far the best choice to represent the party against Darrell McGraw in the fall.
The choice is clear.

Charleston, WV – Charleston attorney and Attorney General Candidate Dan Greear today announced additional support from legislators across the state.
Greear is very pleased and humbled to have even more elected officials support his campaign.
“Running a statewide race is very exciting; I find myself in a different part of the state every day,” said Greear. “Having support from legislators in nearly every area in the state is encouraging as a candidate. Officeholders elected by the people of West Virginia believe I am the best Republican candidate for the job,” stated Greear. “I feel honored to now have endorsements from twenty-two current legislators and a number of former legislators. To my knowledge at this time, my opponent has not received the endorsement of a single elected official in our state,” said Greear.
“I am pleased to announce Delegate Kelli Sobonya, Delegate Ray Canterbury, Delegate Carol Miller and Delegate Troy Andes have now pledged their endorsements,” Greear said. “I am humbled to have the support of these fanastic and energetic leaders and I look forward to working with them as our next Attorney General,” added Greear.
Many legislators have already assisted by organizing fund raisers in their hometowns and participated in Greear’s grassroots effort by going door-to-door.
“Our first hurdle is to win the primary. With the support of Republicans across the state and with the backing of our elected officials, we are pleased with our progress thus far.”
Greear believes he will receive endorsements of legislators in both parties. Legislators in the state, Democrats and Republicans, have expressed anger with the current Attorney General due to McGraw’s history of allocating settlement funds. Greear, being a former legislator, believes lawmakers are ultimately responsible for the state’s budget. When programs are underfunded or cut, the citizens of West Virginia are hurt. These settlement funds should be entered in the general revenue fund and allocated by the Legislature.
The following legislators have expressed their commitment to Greear’s candidacy: House Minority Leader Del. Tim Armstead, Del. Jonathon Miller, Del. John Overington, Del. Craig Blair, Del. Daryl Cowles, Del. Bob Ashley, Del. Mitch Carmichael, Del. Bill Anderson, Del. Larry Border, Del. Allan Evans, Del Ron Walters, Del. Patrick Lane, Del. John Ellem, Del. Tom Azinger, Del. Kelli Sobonya, Del. Carol Miller and Del. Troy Andes. Greear’s Senate support includes Sen. Vic Sprouse, Sen Mike Hall, Sen. Donna Boley and Sen. Frank Deem. Former State Senators Sarah Minear, Steve Harrison and Delegate Ann Calvert are also among Greear’s ssupporters.
Greear is a lifelong resident of Kanawha County, graduating from South Charleston High School in 1986 as a National Merit Scholar. He graduated third in his class from the WVU school of Law in the spring of 1992 where he also served as associate manuscript editor for the West Virginia Law Review. He served in the West Virginia House of Delegates representing Kanawha County’s 30th District in 1995 and 1996. Dan currently resides in South Charleston with his wife Amy, a social worker for Kanawha Hospice Care, and their two children, Joshua, 8 and Ben, 6.

“Greear believes he will receive endorsements of legislators in both parties.”
I am underwhelmed at the thought that the Democrats will also endorse him.
Who else is running again????
Dan Greear is great leader! He is the best choice for West Virginia.
Dan will represent the party well in November, and will in all likelihood be the Republican with the best chance of winning statewide office this year.
After state soverignty was destroyed by one Big Federal state, the ideals of independent voices was squelched out.
Since 1965 We’ve had one party with two divisions…Republican and Democrat.
There are no second parties in America. Two divisions that have MINOR agreements.
Article 1, Section 8, Clause 17
“To exercise exclusive Legislation in all cases whatsoever, over such district (not exceeding ten miles square) as may, by cession of particular States, and the acceptance of Congress, become the seat of the government of the United States, and to exercise like authority over all places purchased by the consent of the Legislature of the State in which the same shall be, for the erection of forts, magazines, arsenals, dock-yards, and other needful buildings;”
The federal government has no jurisdiciton outside of 10 miles called D.C. except in federal buildings, federal dockyards, etc. in the independent states. Outside of this they have NO AUTHORITY in the states soverign decision making.
The two MAJOR parties are really just ONE. They are in total agreement on the big issues, but disagree on MINOR issues such as abortion, gay rights, etc.
The voters of these 2 parties are fooled into believing that these minor issues are really Major differences.
The major issue is recognizing that this state is really a soveriegn country, just like Kentucky is a soveriegn country(state) and so forth. Independent of the federal government whose jurisdiction is limited to D.C. But the two major parties have sold their soverignty of MONEY. Just like the seat belt law, we took the money and said “okay we’ll do what you Feds want as long as we get $$$$” We sold our soverignty, we’ve done this time and time again, now we’ve created a SUPER STATE called AMERICA and it is now haunting us with our uneducated presidential candidates; thus we will now have COMMUNISM and FACISM in the next four years….unless we can still get RON PAUL as our next president. He knows the constitution.
So the talk of this nominee is a waste of time, because if the democrat gets in, its all the same except a couple minor issues.
