2012 Republicans for Byrd March 20, 2009
This may surprise a few people, but I am putting my name in for leader of the Republicans for Byrd group in 2012.
It’s never too early to get started.
I think we, as Republicans, need to get out there early and support our Senior Senator.
Yes, I know he is getting older… and, I know he would be 95 in 2012. But, you know, he is a spry 95.
95 is the new 87, right?
And, when he ends his next term in 2018, he will be 101.
101 is the new 96, right?
And, look, I know there is Democratic politician after Democratic politician lined up in a death watch waiting to shuffle seats and clear the way for Joe Manchin and John Perdue and all the others to step up into new positions, but they can wait, right?
If that means everyone in line has to wait a little longer, so be it. It may be SLIGHTLY fun to watch the pure horror on their faces when they see Byrd rolled in to sign those papers at the Secretary of State’s to run for another term. I only hope I can be there to see it.
Byrd in 2012. Let the campaigning begin.

Great move Vic, count me in as a Republican’s for Byrd for Senate in 2012. By then Shelly M. Capito will be governor and if Bryd died in office under her governorship, she would appoint the next Senator and hopefully it would not be Mojo or John Pewdue and appoint a good non liberal democrat. THINK ABOUT IT
Vic
Photo Op Joe has been chosen by the Democrat powers that be to replace Byrd.
Hard to find a Candidate to run against Mr. Charisma. Slick TV Ads showing Joe consoling the families at mine disasters and it’s a done deal.
The ONLY chance would be Shelly but you know she is running for Governor
Visualize this scenario. Emperor Joseph makes it to the US Senate. There is huge breaking news, but only one TV crew with one mike in the press area.
AND NY Sen. Chuck Schumer is heading for it too. At least there would be the TV crew to cover the stampede, the fight, the trampling, the cursing, the…….
I cannot and will not support Senator Byrd after his long and well-documented liberal voting record. Most recently his opposition to the Iraq war and the insulting, demeaning way in which he opposed President Bush’s efforts strengthened my opposition to Byrd.
I oppose his annual pork festivals as well as his class warfare mentality. How can any conservative support this man??
I realize I’m part of about 15 to 20% of WVians here, but our state would be MUCH better off if we elected a real conservative to the U.S. Senate. I really don’t care about his age, I care about his left-wing philosophy.

At least Big Daddy signed a letter trying to put the brakes on the Cap & Trade fraud.. Did you see the Carpetbagger sign on ? NO.
Mollahan and Rahall will sign on to ANYTHING Nanci Pelosi tells them to sign, even if it destroys their State and electorate.
Capito and Byrd are on the same page on this issue.
Being an independent now is great. It’s no longer Democrat verses Republican. I can actually stand on principal unlike the Republicnas and Democrats that stand on “party line”.
Republicans stand on party platforms and they call it principal. Dems are the same.
I awoke from my Republicans slumber to REAL constitutional and conservative ‘principals’ which are based on freedom.

You’ve lost your mind, Vic. Byrd is no longer chair of appropriations. He’s ineffective. Stick a fork in him, he’s done! I hate when WVians say we need him to bring home the bacon and we can’t afford to get rid of him. If we would have gotten rid of him 20 years ago we would have a seasoned senator to replace him. It looks like we may get two newbie senators between Byrd and Rockefeller’s questionable health.
Mikey’s right. Where are Mollohan, Rahall and RockyIV on the Obama policies that will destroy every single industry in W.Va., including coal? When will W.Va. Democrats - and their union buddies - object to cap and trade?
I am surprised that several bit on Vic’s piece and took it seriously rather than the tongue-in-cheek it was.
support byrd?! yeah right!
